CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19)


Covid-19 is pneumonia of unknown cause detected in Wuhan, China was first reported to the WHO Country Office in China on 31 December 2019. Since then, WHO is working 24/7 to analyse data, provide advice, coordinate with partners, help countries prepare, increase supplies and manage expert networks. The virus was slowly spreading all over the world and today 12 March 2020 the number of Covid-19 cases increasing in Malaysia. Given that the coronavirus id believed to spread like the flu, demand for health-protecting and health-safety items are rising rapidly.


Consumers around the world are actively stockpiling emergency supplies as concerns grow that the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) could become a worldwide pandemic. They’re also starting to think beyond emergency items, such as basic foodstuffs, including canned goods, flour, sugar and bottled water. Concerns are having a ripple effect into non-food essentials as well. Stocks of hand sanitizers and medical face masks have already dried up in some markets, with no clear indication of when supplies will be replenished. In the immediate term, it’s not surprising that manufacturers and retailers are keeping a close watch on products aimed at keeping consumers healthy, including sanitizers, vitamins and medical masks or that sales of these items are on the rise. Through the lens of consumer packaged goods (CPG), concerns about the coronavirus will lead to increased sales across an array of adjacent categories.

The brand that can engage with Covid-19:


Here are some of the brands that can engage with the Covid-19 issue. At this situation, the consumers are being extra care towards themselves and their family in terms of cleanliness, protection from the virus, health condition, surroundings and etc. This is because the Covid-19 is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads. 

There are many possibilities for consumers can be affected by Covid-19. Consumers are being panicked with this virus since it still continues spreading day by day. The only thing that consumers can do in order to prevent themselves and their families is to make sure that they wash their hands frequently and apply hand sanitizer after that. Apart from that, consumers are advised to wear a face mask whenever they go to public places. Automatically the brand that has a product that useful with this current situation is having an extreme demand from the consumers.  This is the time where these brands are about to reach the most maximum numbers of sales and profits. Even without advertising and promotion, these brands still manage to get the highest attention of the consumers. At this point, there's nothing can stop the consumer from hunting those products.

RAMADHAN & HARI RAYA PUASA SEASON

Ramadhan falls on the ninth month of the Islamic year. Puasa is Malay for fasting. Fasting in Islam means abstaining from eating, drinking, smoking and indulging in any form of behaviour that serves to nullify the fast. During Ramadhan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and perform religious duties, such as reading the Quran

During Ramadhan season, the most famous product that is going to be engaged are dates or usually known by Islam people as kurma. There are dates fruits, dates drinks dates cakes and etc. Dates and fasting month can't be separated because usually people that are fasting will berbuka puasa with something sweets such as dates. Other than that, there will be lots of hotels, restaurants and etc competing in promoting their berbuka puasa package. 




The brand that can engage with Ramadhan season:


Fasting month will be ended with celebrating Hari Raya Puasa. When it comes to celebrating festive seasons, there are tons of brands that can be engaged. People will be searching for fabrics, apparels, home decor and etc. Same as other festive celebration, celebrating Hari Raya Puasa also is about wearing something nice and beautiful, family gathering, various foods being served, ask for forgiveness from the relatives and family members and more.
